He died at Tweeten Memorial hospital following an extended illness.

He was born near Mabel, the son of Ove and Mary (Benson) Aasum.

He farmed in Hesper township until moving to Spring Grove in 1978.

He was a life-long member of the Hesper Lutheran church, having served on its council and the building committee.

He was a member of Valheim Lodge No. 364 of the Sons of Norway in Spring Grove.

On March 14, 1941, he married Thora Lommen at Spring Grove.

His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
