George Edmund Senf, 86, a resident of the Ft. Madison Nursing Care Center, died at 3:20 p.m. Monday, 17 Feb. at the care center. He had been in failing health several years and seriously ill one week.
Mr. Senf was born 30 Jan. 1900 at Montrose and was a lifelong resident of Lee County. He retired in 1965 as a boilermaker with the Santa Fe railroad with 45 years of service. He was a member of the Calvary First Assembly of God Church, Claypoole Lodge No. 13 A.F. & A. M. and the Davenport Consistory.
On 24 Dec. 1920 in Ft. Madison, he married Juanita Grace Roland, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, the Rev. Grover Senf, Trenton, MO.; two brothers, Herman Senf, rural Ft. Madison, and Howard Senf, Denmark; s sister, Mrs. Joe (Elsie) Hoenig, rural Ft. Madison; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mona, and by two brothers, Walter, who was killed in World War 2, and Oscar.
His parents were Edmund Oscar and Charlotte (Rudd) Senf.
The body is at the Barr Memorial Chapel where final rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Aubrey Grindstaff will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Friends may call this afternoon and evening at the Barr Memorial Chapel where the family will meet friends from 7 to 8 this evening.
