Mr. Senf died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, in the Donnellson Manor Nursing Home. He had been in failing health for two years.
Mr. Senf was born May 16, 1878, in Dresden, Germany. He spent most of his life in Lee county. He served as a Jefferson township assessor for 20 years and also as a township constable. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the War Dads.
On March 5, 1899, at Charleston, IA, he married Charlotte Rudd, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are four sons, George and Oscar, both of Ft. Madison, Howard of Denmark, and Herman of Montrose; a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Hoenig, Ft. Madison; and 18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a nephew.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, a brother and two sisters. His parents were Oscar & Ida (Ruether) Senf.
