Rex W. LaFave, 79, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Rex was born on September 15, 1932 to Jule and Leona (Jackson) LaFave in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He began his career as a mechanic, and then retired in 1998 from Friskies Pet Care.

Rex married Loretta Chambers on August 20, 1965 in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Noah, Richard, Jule, Jr., Floyd, Clarence, and Allan LaFave; sisters, Agnes Frakes, Victoria Wilson, and Darlene Phelps

Additional surviving family includes daughter, Yvonne LaFave (Stephanie Bagley) Kansas City, Missouri; son, Rodney (Becky) Ebling, Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Shawn, Christopher, and Tracy Ebling, five great-grandchildren, sisters, Phyllis Dowlen and Allean Major, brothers, Jim and Jerry LaFave, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 1:00 PM Monday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
