1936 - 2004

Gower, Mo.--Clarence E. LaFave, 67, of Gower was called home Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a courageous battle with cancer at a hospital in St. Joseph.
He was born Dec. 15, 1936, to Jule and Leona (Jackson) LaFave in St. Joseph, one of 14 children. Clarence grew up and attended Lafayette High School in St. Joseph. He then served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
On March 10, 1958, he was united in marriage to Nadine Middleton "his rock" and mother of his six loving children.
After their marriage, they lived in St. Joseph; and in 1974, they moved to Gower, where they made their home.
Clarence was a self - employed home improvement contractor in the area for many years.
He enjoyed time with friends and his home in Arizona, and especially enjoyed his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Noah, Jule, Jr., and Richard; and sister, Victoria Wilson.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Nadine of 46 years, of the home; six children, Chuck, and wife, Dora, Agency, Mo.; Steve and wife, Beverly; Russ, and wife, Deborah; Mark, and wife, Sue Ann, all of St. Joseph; Chris and wife, Marsha, Gower; and only daughter, Lynn Halter, and husband, Mark, St. Joseph; his adoring grandchildren, Stacy, Brad, Jamie, Chris, Shawn, Ashley, Ryan, Nathan, Alex, Sammy and Molly; great grandchildren, Brandi, Christian, Elizabeth, and Camron; brothers, Floyd, Rex, Jimmy, Harry and Allen; sisters, Agnes Frakes, Alean Major, Darlene Miller, and Phyllis Dowlen, all of St. Joseph; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
