SERVICES FOR FRANCIS G. RICE HELD ON SATURDAY
Services for Frances G. Rice held on Saturday Frances G. Rice, 86, of 12 College Avenue, Randolph, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 1989, in Fenton Park Nursing Home, Jamestown. She was the widow of Clarence Rice, whom she married Dec. 25, 1919 and who died in 1978.
She was born Aug. 6, 1902, in Randolph, a daughter of Arch and Carrie Tyrell Brown. Mrs. Rice was a member of Randolph United Presbyterian Church, Randolph American Legion Auxiliary and Rebekah Lodge of Little Valley.
Surviving are two sons: Arthur Rice of Churchville and Robert Rice of Randolph; a daughter, Delores Whitmore of Falconer; four grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 15 step-greatgrandchildren and 17 step-great-greatgrandchildren; and three sisters: Isadora Gaylord, Aletha Frame and Alberta Wade, all of Gowanda.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons: Leo and Rosal Rice; three daughters: Betty, Frances and Olive Rice; and two brothers, Paul "Bing" Brown and Arthur Brown; and a sister Olive Cox.
The funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday in Van Rensselaer and Son Funeral Home, Randolph. The Rev. Jeff Qamoos, pastor of Randolph United Presbyterian Church, officiated. Burial was in Randolph Cemetery. Bearers were Jim Brown, Brad Brown, Ted Brown, Chuck Pike Rodney Brown and Thomas Rice.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Randolph Volunteer Fire Department Resue Squad.
