~MY GRANDMOTHER~
Clara Maude Adcock was born on Christmas Day in Woodville (Woody), Greene Co., Illinois to WILLIAM HENRY & SARAH JANE (ADCOCK) ADMIRE. Her birth was, to the day, nine months after the birth of her older brother, John Levi.

She was working in a store at Carrollton, when she met and married my grandfather, ELI AUSTIN ZINK. The Zinks lived at Blue Mound in Macoupin Co., Illinois around 1912 when my mother was born. That same year they moved to north of Wisetown (now Beaver Creek), Bond Co., Ill. where Eli built a home for them.

The family moved to Grover, Weld Co., Colorado in 1924 due to their daughter, Mae, having tuberculosis. Eli was a dry-land farmer and they lived there until they retired in Greeley. She became crippled from Rheumatoid Arthritis and was in a wheel chair for many years. In spite of her condition, she always had a cheerful disposition and kept busy crocheting, tatting, drawing, and working puzzles.

She had four sisters, Della Evans who died in 1947 and is buried in Los Angeles; Julia Bradley who died in 1965 and is buried in the Kane Cemetery, Greene Co., Illinois; Gertrude Garrison who died in 1930 of tuberculosis & is buried in Michigan; and Mary Louise Short who died in 1974 and is buried in the Wisetown Cemetery, Bond Co., Ill. She had three brothers: Silas Gilbert Adcock who died young; John Levi Adcock who died in 1946 and is buried in the Carrollton City Cem., Greene Co., Ill.; and William Adcock who died in 1974 and is buried in Warrensburg, Ill.
Four of her six children are deceased: Julia Mae Reichley Boardman, Vernon Zink, Carson Zink, Paul Zink, and my mother, FLORENCE LOUISE (ZINK) PHILP.
