Lawrence Eastes
Lawrence Eastes of 1530 Carol Dr. Pomona, died Wednesday in Pomona Community Hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Eastes was born Oct. 6, 1900 in Fairmont,Ind. He came to California in 1940 from Detroit, Mich. and lived in Van Nuys. He had been a resident of Pomona for the past 18 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Pomona.
Besides his widow, Ursula, he is survived by three sons, Leni of Santa Barbara, Jerry of Redondo Beach, and Bill of Pomona; three daughters, Mrs. Dorthea Bohan of Ferndale, Mich., Mrs Jacqueline Perry of Beverly Hills, and Joy Eastes of Pomona; a brother, Pete of Indiana: and three sisters Mrs. Elva Babbitt and Mrs. Golda Love both of Pomona and Mrs. Virginia Mueller of Goodlands Ind.; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Todd Memorial Chapel Pomona. The Rev. Warren S. Nyback, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Pomona, will officiate. Services will conclude in the chapel and private burial made in Pomona Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Todd Memorial Chapel Pomona Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m.

Lawrence T. Eastes was the son to Marshall T. Eastes and Ella McKillip. He was married three times, 1st to Olive Ethelyn Hearn, 2nd to Agnes Irene Small, and 3rd to Martha Nellie Ursula Milner. He fatherd 6 kids. Dorothea, Leni, Jerome, Jackie, Joy, and William.
He worked as a Real Estate broker and many other jobs as the need arose. He was politically active and dedicated. As a young man he attended the Christian Church in Remington, Indiana. He went to the Episcopal Church after he married Ursula.
When a boy, he found himself in the position of being the man of the family at the age of 11. He delivered papers before school and shone shoes after school. On weekends he hunted and fished to put meat on the table. His mother and sisters took in wash. But Dad finished High School and was proud of that fact. His sisters had to leave school in the 8th grade or sooner in order to help at home.
Lawrence had 4 full siblings, Elva Ethel Eastes Babbitt, Virginia Eastes Miiller,Golda May Eastes Love, and Clarence Holman "Pete" Eastes. He also had 3 half brothers from his father's first marriage to Elizabeth Jane Morris. William Harrison Estes , Meredith Frank Eastes, and Walter Alonzo Eastes.
He was a good father to me. I miss him.
