Richard Z. Brown
Richard Z. Brown, son of James and Margaret Brown was born in Cambridge, Iowa, July 20, 1892, and passed away at the Story County Hospital at Nevada, Iowa, January 8, 1961, after a 6 weeks illness. He was married to Pet Beal Pinck August 17, 1921. To this union was born one daughter. He was a life long member of the American Legion of which he was a Post Commander four times, he was also a charter member of World War I Veterans at Nevada, Iowa. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Pet; daughter Ila Barrett, and son, Emerson Pinck; 4 grandchildren, Sharron Schuler, Sankey and Shelia Pinck and Dick Barrett; one grandson, Gordon Schuler and 3 sisters, Edith Morrison, Nell Ballard and Bertha Ballard, a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 12, at 2 p.m. at the Cooper Funeral Home, with Rev. De Loss Marken of Des Moines, officiating. Don Myers accompanied by Madeline Summitt at the organ sang, "Near the Cross" and "Be Still My Soul". Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Wm. Joor, D.G. Douglass, Otto Davis, James Ward, Ralph Thompsom, Dan Peters and Harry Davis. The many beautiful floral tributes were in charge of Helen Ward and Nell Rupp. Casket bearers were Harold Ballard, James Ballard, Glen Ballard, Floyd Ballard, Claude Ballard and Richard Ballard. Burial was in the Maxwell Cemetery and Military rites by the Maxwell American Legion Post.

Funeral services for Richard Z. Brown were held Jan. 12 from the Cooper Funeral Home, Maxwell. The Rev. Deloss Markien officiated.
Pallbearers were Harold Ballard, James Ballard, Glen Ballard, Floyd Ballard, Claude Ballard and Richard Ballard. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. William Joor, D. G. Douglass, Otto Davis, James Ward, Ralph Thompson, Dan Peters and Harry Davis.
