Mary Frances Mickels, daughter of John and Leticia Mickels was born February 14,1870,in Putnam county,near Hartford,Mo.She passed away at the home of her daughter,Tempa Johnson on November 6,1952,at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 21 days.
She was united in marriage to William Riley Marcum on January 15,1888,and her husband preceded her in death May 21,1940.
To this union were born three children,Tempa Johnson of Unionville,Henry Marcum of Unionville,and Martha Owens who preceded her in death,December 31, 1951.Also preceded her in death,her father and mother, two brothers Henry Mickels and Lewis Mickels,and three sisters,Emma Matthews,Ollie Auten andLily Starks and one granddaughter,Mary Olive Marcum, and one great grandchild,James Edward Johnson.
Those surviving besides her children are two brothers, James Mickels and Harrison Mickels, both of Centerville, Iowa;two sisters,Gertie Wickam of Seymour,Iowa,and Laura Baugher of Centerville,Iowa;one son-in-law,Ed Johnson;one daughter-in-law,Elsie Marcum;six grandsons and four great grandchildren,several nieces and nephews,and a host of relatives and many friends.
She was united in faith and membership with the Hartford Baptist church of Hartford,Mo.,at an early age,and she lived,faithfully,and always,attending when able in body.She spent her entire life in Putnam county,near Unionville.
Funeral services were held November 6,1952 at the Comstock Funeral Home, conducted by Rev.J.H.Houston, Burial was in the Thompson cemetery.
