Of Arlington, Dies
Friday Evening


Oliver O. Lanam, 77, well-known Arlington community resident, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday in his home on Ellettsville Road. Lanam had been seriously ill for three months.

A native of Brown County, where he was born September 14, 1877, Lanam was the sone of Solomon and Sarah Wilcox Lanam. He was for many years employed in Monroe and Lawrence County quarries.

He was also an employee of Showers Furniture Company for sme time. More recently he operated a grocery store and filling station in Arlington.

Interested in community affiars, Lanam was instrumental in founding the present Arlington School.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eliza E. Lanam, three daughters, Mrs. Anna Rowlett, Route 1; Mrs. Irene Watson, Indianapolis; and Mrs. Esther Stigell, Indianapolis; one half-brother, Glen Lanam of Monroe County; two half-sisters, Mrs. Reba Stewart, Guthrie; and Mrs. Elizabeth Campbell of Greenwood; 12 grand children and five great-grandchildren.

Lanam was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and the South Side Assembly of God.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Day Mortuary Chapel, Rev. A. J. Haste and Rev. W. C. Chafin will officiate.
