12 AUG 2021 SAC (2) with additional information.*~Theodore "Tede" [presumably pronounced as Teddy] Benge was the son of Samuel Houston Benge Sr. (buried at Ft. Gibson Nat. Cem.) & Nannie Brewster; he had the following siblings: Margaret "Maggie" Benge McLain (buried at Citizens); Samuel Houston Benge Jr. (buried at Citizens); Richard Benge (buried at Citizens), & Jennie Benge.

Tede married Cora Pain (buried at Citizens) about 1899; she was born about 1880; they had the following children: Richard, Maggie, Ross Benge, and Nancy "Ollie" Benge.

Tede is listed on the 1880 Cherokee Nation Census: Illinois, 53; 1890 CN Census: Illinois, 1679; Dawes Roll: card# 1832, roll# 4848; Miller Roll: Ft. Gibson, OK, ap# 7897, roll# 4897; Blood: 1/2 Cherokee.

Local News, Ross Benge Visits Brother Theodore Benge, 4 April 1912
Ross L. Benge of Whitmire, was in town Monday, and subscribed for the New Era.
He was here to see his brother, Theodore Benge, who is very sick and is not likely to recover. Mr Benge was formerly a resident of Fort Gibson, and was Town Marshal when this was considered a tough town.

Death of Theodore Benge
Theodore Benge, died at his home near Wildhorse prairie, Friday of last week, after a lingering sickness. He was 37years of age, and born near Ft. Gibson, where his mother resides. He was the son of the late Houston Benge, and leaves a brother, who resides here, Sam. and a married sister, Mrs. H. Reece, and three half brothers George Benge of Tahlequah OK., M. V. Benge, of Ft. Gibson , and R . L. Benge of Whitmire; also a wife and six children.
