Son of Martin Benge and Eliza Lowrey. Married Lucy Blair in 1851 and Nancy "Nannie" Brewster on Oct. 15, 1866. He was Attorney and Delegate to Washington for the Cherokee Nation. He was half Cherokee, belonging to the Ani'-Gilâ'hi Clan. Children of Samuel and Lucy Blair were:
