John Warren Davenport died Monday, August 29, 1988 at Veterans Home in Yountville, California, where he had been a resident for the past 11 years.
Mr. Davenport formerly resided in Waverly and Springfield.
He was born June 25, 1908 east of Waverly in Sangamon county, the son of Jesse and Mae (Coons) Davenport. He married Theresa Scott on August 4, 1935. She died in 1979.
While a student at WTHS, Mr. Davenport was active in the Music department and did solo work on the radio.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, a brother Lester and a sister, Dorothy Martin.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Scott, of Long Beach, Calif. and James Michael of Marysville, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Jane Hults of Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Loucille Davenport and Ruth Noble of Waverly; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
The remains were cremated in Yountville, Calif.
Memorial services were held at the Yountville Veterans Chapel. Burial of the ashes will be at a later date in the family plot at Waverly East Cemetery.
