Gustave Winkel was found dead in a chair by his wife at 6 a.m. today at his home in Howards Grove. Coroner C. N. Sonnenburg, who was summoned, pronounced death due to heart failure.

He was born on July 1, 1881, in the town Herman, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gottfried Winkel, and he lived his life in and near Howards Grove. On May 10, 1902, he was married to Miss Clara Brendel of the town Herman. For about 20 years, he had been employed at the R. L. Frome Box company plant in the village.

The survivors are the widow; the following children, Mrs. Edgar Klemme, Mrs Arthur Klemme of the town Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. Ludwig Pichler of Hartland, Wis., Mrs Ewald Franzmeier of Howards Grove. Mrs. Gustav Damrow, at home, Harley and Elmer Winkel at home; three brothers, Herman of the town Meeme, Manitowoc county, Fred of Kiel and Louis of Howards Grove and four sisters, Mrs Mary Klueger, Mrs Ida Minster of Sheboygan Mrs. Fred Perronne of the town Herman and Mrs. Louis Marbes of Boltonville, Wis. Twenty grandchildren also survive. A son Raymond preceded him in death as a infant.

The body was taken to the Ahrens Funeral Home in Howards Grove.
The Rev. Walter Kitzelow, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Howards Grove officiated. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
