Louis Winkel

Louis Winkel, 78, retired town of Herman farmer, died at St. Nicholas hospital at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday following a lingering illness.

A son of the late Gottfried and Ida Winkel, he was born May 13, 1875 on his parents’ farm in the town of Herman.

He married Anna Trautman on Nov. 4, 1900. Following marriage the couple farmed in several different locations, all in the town of Herman. For the past 10 years he had lived a retired life on his home farm. Mrs. Winkel died Feb. 1, 1948.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Esther) Heinze town of Herman; and one granddaughter, Helen Ann Heinz.

Mr. Winkel was a member of Trinity Lutheran Congregation, town of Herman.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Walter H. Ahrens Funeral home, Howards Grove, with the Rev. John Potratz, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Herman, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood cemetery, Sheboygan.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Friday.
