Henry Kuester, 84, a retired Town of Herman farmer, died early Monday afternoon at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness.
A native of the Town of Herman, he was born Aug. 28, 1872, son of the late Gottlieb and Mary Kuester.
His marriage to the former Bertha Bramstedt was performed Feb. 16, 1896, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Howards Grove, by the late Rev. Gustav Voit. Following marriage the couple resided in Howards Grove for a few years, then moved to the farm north of the village which Mr. Kuester continued to operate until retirement. His wife died in 1946.
An active member of Trinity Lutheran Congregation, he served on the Board of Elders and sang in the choir for 25 years. He was also a charter member of the Trinity Men's Club.
Surviving are four sons, Norbert of Howards Grove, Harley on the home farm, Henry of Kiel and Willard of the Town of Herman; two daughters, Mrs. Viola Walk of Herman and Mrs. Clifford Sackett (Esther) of Sheboygan ; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Fred of Loyal, Wis., and William of Milwaukee
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Services will be held at 2 1 p m. Thursday at Trinity Church, Howards Grove, with the Rev, Herbert Stelter of Hinckley, Ill., a grandson of Mr. Kuester, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Walter H. Ahrens Funeral Home, Howards Grove, from 2 p.m. Wednesday until 11 a. m. Thursday and at the church from noon until the time of services.
