Lois Duncan
Funeral services will be today at 10a.m. at Warner Chapel for Lois Duncan, 84, rural Dickens.
Mrs. Duncan died Monday at her home near Langdon.
Rev. Marilyn Hamilton will officiate at the services. Casket bearers will be Mike Von Ehwegen, Everett Sorenson, Delbert Dodge, John Metcalf and Paul Sipes.
Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery in Spencer. The Warner funeral home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
The daughter of John and Nora Tomlinson Carter, Mrs. Duncan was born May 30, 1903 in Mohall, N.D. Her early years were spent in Dickens and later in Spicer, Minn., where she graduated from high school; after receiving her teaching certificate, she taught in Minnesota.
She married Bill Batcher on may 25, 1924 and they farmed in the Dickens community before moving to Lander, Wyo. Mr. Batcher died on June 19, 1950.
On Sept. 14, 1957, she married John Duncan and they later lived on a farm east of Langdon. Mr. Duncan died Oct. 17, 1965.
Mrs. Duncan was a long-time member of the Dickens United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Helen and Al Swart of Dickens; five step-children; a son-in-law, John Trotter of Casper, Wyo.; two grandchildren; two great grandsons; several step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and step-great great grandchildren, one brother, Elwood Carter of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Beryl Jensen of Orlando, Fla. and Rosemary Stark of Theresa, Wisc.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands John and Bill; one daughter, Leona Trotter; one step-son.
