JOHN PAULY, Sr., was born John Baptiste Pauli in 1829, the son of Peter Pauli and Ursula Con--- in Bavaria, Germany. John and his future wife, Anna Herzinger immigrated to America on the ship, Auguste, arriving in New Orleans Nov. 22, 1855. They were married in Belleville, Illinois July 14, 1856. They settled in Doniphan County in 1858; residence Normanville; farmer, land owner, businessman and stock-grower.
John and Anna had 10 children, 8 living to adulthood. Anna died in 1878. John age 50, married Mary Spiering age 23 in 1880 and had 6 children, 4 living to adulthood. John and Mary were divorced.
John was buried next to Anna.
