Born March 30, 1862, near Purcell, Mrs. Behen's maiden name was Elizabeth Pauly. She married to J. D. Behen at Purcell 49 years ago next April 10.
Mrs Behen was an exemplary wife and mother and was esteemed by all who knew her. Surviving besides Mr. Behen are five sons and one daughter: Joe, John and Roy Behen of the home: Tom Behen, Horton; Fred Behen, Parsons, and Mrs. Agnes McKibben, Atchison. One sister, Mrs. Charles Sommers of Atchison and two brothers, Joe and Ben Pauly of Purcell.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 Thursday morning at Sacred Heart church. The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock Wednesday night at the McKibben home. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. (now known as Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
