Samuel BOWEN, 71, R.R. 6, Rochester, died at 10:15 p.m. Saturday in Mesa, Ariz., where he had gone for the winter. He had been in failing health the past six years. Mr. Bowen, a retired machinist and farmer, was born Aug. 7, 1891, to John and Rebecca HARTMAN BOWEN in Fulton county, where he spent most of his life. He was married Feb. 12, 1911, in Fulton county to Lena PERKINS, who survives. He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist of North Manchester and of the Richland Center I.O.O.F. Surviving with the wife ar two sons, Floyd [BOWEN], at home, and John [BOWEN], Indianapolis; two grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Lee (Rose) HATCH, Macy; Mrs. Leo (Alice) NORRIS, Rochester; Mrs. Elva MECHLING, Argos; and Mrs. Sarah WELLER, Waterman, Ill.; four brothers, Vernie [BOWEN], Leiters Ford; Nelson [BOWEN], Akron; Ray [BOWEN], Argos, and Clem [BOWEN], Plymouth, and several nieces and nephews. One sister and three brothers preceded in death. Services are tentatively set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the Foster & Good funeral home with First Reader Mrs. John SMITH of Akron officiating. Burial will be in the Richland Center I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 p.m. Wednesday.
