Alexander Achenbach was born September 23, 1870, in Cedar Bluff, Iowa, and passed away at his home in Cedar Bluff, at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 19 days. He was the son of Elizabeth and Lewis Achenbach, being the eldest of 12 children.
Mr. Achenbach was united in marriage to Mary Schutt on May 27, 1898. To this union were brown three sons and five daughters. Mr. Achenbach has spent all of his life in Cedar Bluff community and retired from the farm five years ago. He has been bedfast for the past six months with a heart ailment.
Mr. Achenbach attended the Union church in Cedar Bluff. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Mary; three sons, Earl of Lisbon, Charles of Mechanicsville, Walter of Tipton; and five daughters, Mrs. Hilbert Dice and Mrs. Roger Messner of Tipton; Mrs. Russell Howard of West Branch, Mrs. Gerald Jones and Mrs. Harry Hegarty of Stanwood; also five brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Fred Stout, Miss Laura Achenbach, Mrs. Felix Moiner, John and Orlando, all of Cedar Bluffs and Abner of Morley, and Emanuel of Center Point. Also a brother Isaac of Webster, Iowa, and 21 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Mr. Achenbach was a devoted husband and father and will be missed by all that knew him.
