Mrs. Grubaugh was born November 8th, 1837, near Mohican, Ashland County, and was the last surviving member of a family of twelve children of Robert Francis Chandler, who settled near Mohican in 1812 and was one of the pioneers of that section. At the age of eighteen, she came to Mansfield and was married, April 25, 1861 to James W. Grubaugh. Five children were born of this union, four of whom survive: Mrs. B.F. Gates, James A., Miss Rebecca, and William R. Grubaugh, all residing in Mansfield. Dr. R.F. Grubaugh, the eldest son, died about twelve years ago. Early in life, Mrs. Grubaugh united with the Methodist Church and for more than half a century has been a member of the First Methodist Church. She was an active worker in all branches of church work until her health became impaired and she was unable to continue. Always of a cheerful disposition, she took keen interest in the affairs of life and it is with sincere regret that her many friends learn of her demise.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from her late residence, conducted by Rev. T. Wallis Grose, of the First Methodist Church, interment in the Mansfield Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend the funeral.
