Rebecca was first married to Dr. Johnson, this about 1837. To this union one child was born, James W. Johnson, born in 1838. Dr. Johnson went out on a call one night and was killed by bushwackers. Rebecca married secondly her childhood sweetheart, Henry English and to this union 3 children were born, Sarah Jane English, 1841; Charles Henry Archabald English, 1844 and Lucinda English, 1846. Mr. English went off to fight in the Mexican War and was killed. She was alone and James was lonely so he suggested they get married. To this union four daughters were born.
