Mrs. Mary Bessie Barton, 92, Route 2, Surgoinsville, died Tuesday, February 19, 1985, at Kingsport Hospital after a brief illness.

A lifelong resident of Hawkins County, for the last 18 years she had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Hanes (Juanita) Cooper, Surgoinsville.

Mrs. Barton was a member of Fudges Chapel Church.

In addition to Mrs. Cooper, she is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Grady (Arlean) Ford, Rogersville and Mrs. Carl (Grace) Bruner, Surgoinsville; three sons, Clyde Barton, Surgoinsville, Glen (Spurlock) Barton and Robert Barton, both of Church Hill; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bertha Ward, Surgoinsville; two brothers, Simon and James Ward, both of Surgoinsville.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Barton and a son, W.C. (Peanut) Barton.

Services iwll be conducted at 2 pm Thursday (today) in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Garland James and the Rev. Ray Willis officiating.

Burial will be in Fudges Chapel Cemetery.
