Mrs. Dirks was born in Groembozin, Germany, and was married there Nov. 25, 1886, to William Dirks, who preceded her in death. They located in Shawano County in 1891, settling at Cecil. Later they moved to a farm in Underhill. Following their retirement from farming 27 years ago their son-in-law and youngest daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Dittman, took over the farm.
Surviving are nine children, Charles Dirks, Michigan City, Ind., Mrs. Robert Braselow, Mrs. Martha Neitzel and William Dirks Jr., Mayville, Carl Dirks, Theresa, Henry Dirks, Zachow, Theodore Dirks, Edgar, Mrs. William Kroening, Krakow, and Mrs. Dittman; 44 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren.
