William F. Dirks, 94, of N8692 N. German St., Mayville, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997, at St. Agnes Hospital.

He was born on July 23, 1902, in Underhill, a son of William and Ottilie Schmidt Dirks. On Sept.16, 1925, he married Marie Neitzel in the Town of Theresa.

Mr. Dirks farmed in the Town of Williamstown for 48 years. He was a member of St. John's
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mayville and held various church offices. He also was a member of Mayville Senior Center.

Survivors include one daughter, Ardis Puls and her husband Wilbert of Mayville; one son, Allen and his wife Nancy of Mayville; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry of Stoughton, nieces, nephews and other relative.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife in 1994, four sisters and three brothers.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mayville. The Rev. Galen Drawbaugh will officiate. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Mayville.

Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville and at the church on Wednesday from noon to the time of services.

Memorials in his name may be directed to the church.
