MICHIGAN CITY -- Services for Charles Frederick Dirks, 86, of 1710 W. 10th St., Michigan City, who died at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday in the Red Oaks Nursing Home will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Harold J. Knappe officiating. Burial will be in Furnessville (Ind.) Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening in the Carlisle Funeral Home.
Mr. Dirks was born Oct. 17, 1889, in Germany, and had been a resident of Michigan City for 67 years. He married Ida Grieger, who died in 1951 and on April 26, [sic 1962] (should be 1952) in Michigan City he married Selma Nussbaum, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Arnold and Milton, both of Michigan City; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Hazel) Reiter of Furnessville, Mrs. Henry (Evelyn) Wonderland of Chicago, and Mrs. Donald (Leona) Schaber of Niles; 13 grandchildren; three brothers, William of Mayville, Wis., Theodore of Edgar, Wis., Henry of Schwano Wis., and three sisters, Mrs. Ella Kroening of Krakow, Wis., Mrs. Martha Weitzel of Mayville, Wis., and Mrs. Carl (Ottilia) Dittman of Underhill, Wis. Mr. Dirks was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
