Linda Jennings passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at home in Flower Mound following a long battle with congestive heart failure and kidney disease. She dedicated her life to caring for others with such a kind and loving heart.
Service: 3 p.m. Saturday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Linda Jennings was born Lela Ethelinda White on January 5, 1928 in Cleveland, Mississippi. Previously, she lived in Midland and Grapevine. She was a member of Meadow Creek Baptist Church in Bedford for more than 20 years. Members of her Sunday school class loved her as she loved them. In Midland she was a member of Kelview Heights Baptist Church. She was a faithful and obedient child of God. She had a strong faith in the Lord and looked forward to eternity in heaven when He called her home. She was proud of earning a Midland Community College associates degree at the age of 54. Prior to that, she was busy raising a family.

She was totally dedicated to her husband of 59 years, five children, 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Linda is preceded in death by husband, D.L. Jennings, parents, Walter and Laura Belle Hall and five brothers; Ray (Edith) White, Everett (Grace) White, Haskell (Hattie) White, Coleman (Carmela) White, Norman (Jo) White, half-brother Roy (Sadie) White, half-sisters Evelyn (Ervin) White Wadley, and Eva (Loyd) White Lowrie.

Survivors: children, Kathy Brown (Ronnie) of Midland, Judy Kiddoo (Steve) of Flower Mound, Don Jennings (Kara) of Decatur, Linda Snelling (Jim) of Grapevine, David Jennings (Erica) of Denton.

As I ponder this New Year's Day, my mind, as in the past, is not looking forward with new resolution to the coming year but looking back pensively and reflectively to the joys of past years. I treasure the annual girls' trips with my dear mother, trips she so excitedly prepared for and looked forward to; trips that brought us such pleasures and memories.
As I prepare to face a year without her, my heart so gratefully reminds me of the Christian values she instilled in me. The youngest of six, and only daughter of Walter and Laura Belle White, she lost her own mother at the tender age of two and was raised by an aunt because she was too young for her father, who worked long, hard days, to care for her. One of our trips included something she had long wished for: the placing of a headstone, after 82 years, for her mother's unmarked grave in Sunflower County, MS.
To repeat my brother's words, there is a multitude awaiting her arrival. We are only awaiting God's timing. As the cliché goes, our loss is heaven's gain. Always fervent in prayer, the family, only half-joking, always said she had a hotline to heaven.
It is God's blessing that in between two hospital visits, she was healthy enough to enjoy the family gathering at Christmas this past year.
I'm sure with five children, one or more of us failed her and disappointed her on many an occasion, but her love for us never wavered, and ours for her, never will. She will be 87 years old on Monday, January 5th. Love to you, my dear sweet mother, for eternity.
