He was born April 5, 1923 at Wanette, Oklahoms, the son of Murry Drayton and Zula (Barnes) Higgins.
He was retired from the U. S. Army, a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, and was a member of Huntsville Post 10,021, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Velva P. (Dryer) Higgins of the home; two brothers, George Vernon Higgins of Leavenworth, Kansas and Louis D. Higgins of Stigler, Oklahoma; six sisters, Sylvia Pogue of Wanette, Oklahoma, Mildred Ever-sole of Macomb, Oklahoma, Bernice Swensen of Elgin, Texas, Ola May Claire of Tacoma, Washington, Ellen Lillard of San Bernardino, California and Peggy Wustingburg, of Wanette, Oklahoma.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 4, 1985 in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Dillon officiating.
Burial was in the National Cemetery at Fayetteville, under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were James Perry, Eddie Perry, Alfred Taylor, J.W. Taylor, Charles Dryer and Harold Dryer.
