Found in The State (Columbia, SC) 22 February 1959: ST. GEORGE-A former Fairfield County sheriff's widow was instantly killed and five persons hospitalized after a two-automobile wreck at an intersection on Highway 165 near here at 8 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Ray Timms Rabb, 58, was en route to visit a sister, Mrs. H. W. Knight in Charleston, with another sister, Mrs. T. W. Turkett of Winnsboro, when the wreck occurred. Two others, in addition to Mrs. Turkett, riding in the auto with Mrs. Rabb were hospitalized in Dorchester County Hospital at Summerville. Two unidentified occupants of the second vehicle were also hospitalized. None of them were considered in serious condition, it was reported. Mrs. Turkett's daughter and George Mattox, also of Winnsboro, were among the injured. Mrs. Rabb was born at Winnsboro, a daughter of Mrs. Lillie Young Timms and the late Samuel Timms. She was a member of the Winnsboro First Baptist Church. She was the widow of former Fairfield County Sheriff Ernest K. Rabb, Sr. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include one daughter, Mrs. John Renwick of Winnsboro; one son, Ernest K., Jr. of Camden; six sisters, Mrs. Frank Kalwoods of Hattisburg, Miss, Mrs. H. W. Knight of Charleston, Mrs. George R. Shedd, and Mrs. T. T. Boulware of Winnsboro, Mrs. P. C. Turner of Cross Anchor and Mrs. T. W. Turkett of Winnsboro; five brothers, Hugh, Chalmers, Thomas, and Barney Timms of Winnsboro, and Edgar Timms of Akron, Ohio. Funeral plans were incomplete. The body is at Pope Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
