Otto R. Wernli

Funeral services for Otto R. Wernli, 81, of Hudson, Ohio, a former resident of Le Mars were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mauer funeral home. Rev. L. L. Belk officiated. Burial was in the Le Mars city cemetery. City fireman served as pallbearers. Mr. Wernli died Friday at a nursing home near Hudson after a long illness.

Mr. Wernli was born August 29, 1880 at Le Mars and was a retired sales representative of Plymouth Milling Co. He moved to Sioux City in 1941 and to Hudson in 1947. He married Dorothea Hahn February 22, 1906 at Spencer, Iowa. Mrs. Wernli died in 1941. Mr. Wernli was a longtime volunteer fireman at Le Mars.

Survivors include four sons, Kenneth of Allison Park, Pa., Donald of Dallas, Ore., Allen of Le Mars, and Lt. Col. James Wernli of Travis airbase, Cal.; three sisters, Mrs. A. L. Livingston of Paullina, Ia., Mrs. L. B. Schaefer and Mrs. Clara Paul, both of Berea, Ohio; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
