On Saturday last Louisa Wernli, a twelve year old daughter of Prof. Wernli, died very suddenly. She had been ailing somewhat but nothing serious was suspected. She got up Saturday morning as usual, but before noon her youthful spirit had passed away.
She was a sweet and gentle child, and a great favorite not only of the large family of which she formed a part, but with all the young people who knew her. Her death has cast a deep shadow in a beautiful and loving home, and the survivors have the deep sympathy of the community in their great trial.
On Sunday her remains were followed to the City of the Dead on the hill by a large concourse of friends, deeply impressive services having been first held in the German Methodist Church.
Go to thy rest fair child!Go to thy dreamless bed,While yet so gentle, undefiled,With blessings on thy head.
Ere sin has scarred the breast,Or sorrow waked the tear,Rise to thy throne of changeless rest
In yon celestial sphere.
