Lois Bessie Vaught, age 94, of Albuquerque, left this world to live with our Heavenly Father on April 3, 2011. Lois was born September 30, 1916, in Sepulpa, OK, the fifth of 15 children born to Joseph B. Lynch and Bessie (White) Lynch. She married William (Bill) Vaught in 1934 and they lived in Lubbock, TX, until Bill's death in 1994. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son-in-law, Don Van Meter; and four sisters: Alma Adams, Ruby Martin, Elsie LaRue, Garnet Otwell; and five brothers, Clyde Lynch, Frank Lynch, Jess Lynch, Elwin Lynch, and Carl Lynch. Surviving Lois are her two daughters, Betty Van Meter of Estancia, NM and Nora Joyce Giles and her husband, Cliff Giles of Albuquerque; survivors also include three sisters, Leota Gilbert of Arlington, TX, Opal Mooneyham of Bowie, TX, Charlene Mann and husband, John of Vernon, TX; and two brothers, Winfred Lynch of Vernon, TX and Eddie Lynch and wife, Marie of Hobbs, NM. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Jo Kincaid of Wichita Falls, TX, and Beth Lynch of Hobbs, NM; seven grandchildren, Kay Brown and husband, Carl of Angel Fire, NM; Marita Norman and husband, Trent of Odessa, TX; Jody Giles and wife, Bernice of Arnold, MD; Allen Van Meter of Franklin, TN; Kendal Giles and wife, Francesca of Albuquerque; Lois Linette Van Meter of Odessa, TX; and Troy Van Meter of Estancia. Other survivors include 18 great-grandchildren; and one great- great- grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois retired in 1981 after 18 years as a bookkeeper with the Texas A&M Agricultural Station in Lubbock. After her husband died, she moved to Albuquerque to be nearer her two daughters. She loved the Lord, attending church, bible study, and gospel music. She was a doting "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great- grandchildren and opened her home to various family members who enjoyed extended stays throughout the years. Lois will be remembered by her family and friends who loved her as fiercely independent and a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who would give anything she had and would do anything she could for her family and friends. She was a lady who never wanted to be a bother to anyone and she will be missed immensely. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Sanders Funeral Home, 1420 Main Street, Lubbock, TX, 79401, with burial following at the Lubbock City Cemetery.
