Cpl. Elwin Ray Lynch, 24, was killed near Chu Dong, Korea while aiding the wounded, according to the word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Lynch of Megargel.

The soldier, with the First Cavalry, 8th Medical Regiment, had been in Japan for 3-1/2 years and was looking forward to coming home in August, his last few letters stated.

Lynch was born and reared at Lone Oak in Young County and had been in the service since 1946. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survived by his parents; five brothers - Frank and Jesse of Olney; Windfred of Lafayette, IN; Eddie of Eunice, NM, Carl Lynch of Megargel; eight sisters - Mmes. Oland Gray, V.J. Maddox, Jack Mooneyham, Jack Adams, Earl Dowell, W.M. Vaught, Major Atwell, Miss Charlene Lynch.
