BRITTONS NECK - Leila Pearl Brown Rogers, 92, widow of Marvin Brunson Rogers, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at home after an illness. She was born May 18, 1911, in Marion County, a daughter of the late Sandy C. and Julia Baxley Brown.

She was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of Nebo Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for the children for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Juliette Owens (David) of the Gapway community in Mullins and Faye Rogers of the home; two sons, M.B. Rogers of the home and Carol Rogers (Helen) of Brittons Neck; two sisters, Mae Goodyear of Marion and Julia Belle Jackson of Wilmington, NC; a half sister, Sue Hawkins of Florence; 2 granddaughters; and 2 great-granddaughters.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Thorton Brown, Maxie Brown, Gary Brown and Lamar Brown.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Nebo Baptist Church. The Rev. Hal Norton and the Rev. Norman Abernathy will officiate. Burial will be in Souls Chapel Cemetery.
