MARION — Mrs. Nellie Mae Brown Goodyear, 99, widow of J.K. Goodyear Jr., died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Southland Healthcare Center in Florence. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the Chapel of Smith-Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Goodyear was born Aug. 5, 1908, in Marion, a daughter of the late Sandy and Julia Baxley Brown. She retired from Heritage Sportswear. Mrs. Goodyear was a member of Marion Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Goodyear are two sons, Bobby G. Goodyear and his wife, Rose, of Goldsboro, N.C., and F. Marion Goodyear and his wife, Betty, of Florence; a sister, Julie Belle Jackson of Wilmington, N.C.; her grandchildren, Robert M. Goodyear and his wife, Trish, of Florence, Scott Goodyear and his wife, Gwen, of Wilmington, N.C., and Kim G. Lawrence and her husband, Kevin, of New Bern, N.C.; her great grandchildren, Brett Goodyear and his wife, Jennifer, of Edinburg, Va., Mandy Goodyear of Edinburg, Va., Amber Goodyear of Wilmington,
N.C., Logan Lawrence of New Bern, N.C., and Hannah Goodyear of Wilmington, N.C.; a great-great-grandchild, Marlee Clare Goodyear of Edinburg, Va.; a sister-in-law, Ruby Brown of Marion; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Goodyear was predeceased by a sister, Lelia Rogers and four brothers, Thorton Brown, Maxie Brown, Gary Brown and Lamar Brown.
