Funeral services for Lucille Smith were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 21, 1997 at the Vase Funeral Chapel in Rock Springs. The Rev. Bill Bruce of the First United Methodist Church conducted the services. Interment was in the Paul J. Wataha Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith, 87, of 1204 McKinley Ave., Rock Springs, died at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 1997 at the Sage View Care Center in Rock Springs.
Pallbearers were Richard Pratt, Clifford Lenz, Duce Piaia, Rudy Pivik, Ron Ransdell, Mark Ransdell, Dick Bennett, Mike Vase and Buddy Bennett.
A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Mrs. Smith had been in ill health the past one year.
She attended schools in Kentucky and was a graduate of high school there. Mrs. Smith graduated from the Eastern Kentucky Teachers College.
She married William “Cheesey” Smith at the First Baptist Church in Rock Springs on Aug. 19, 1950.
Mrs. Smith taught piano lessons in her home in Rock Springs for many years.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church where she also played the piano for many years.
Survivors include her husband, William “Cheesey” Smith of Rock Springs; two brothers, Everett Ransdell of Grand Junction, Colo., and Fred Ransdell of California; one sister, Alma Baker of Wickliffe, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by four brothers, Kelwin Ransdell, who died in infancy, Curtis Ransdell, Allen Ransdell and Kenneth Ransdell.
