Oran - Kenneth P. Ransdell, 66 years old, of Oran, died Sunday at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born at Salvisa, Ky. on Dec. 2, 1920, the son of Huntley and Mary Gritton Ransdell.
He was in the Navy Air Corps from 1943 to 1945, and served in the South Pacific.
He married Myra Townsend on May 23, 1947. She survives.
He moved to Oran in 1954, from St. Louis. The Ransdells owned and operated the Oran Cafe for 24 years.
He was a police judge for Oran for eight years and served as the town's mayor for 15 years.
He was a member of the Morley VFW Post, was a charter member of the Oran Lions Club, was past president of the Oran Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Bootheel Economic Development Council.
He was also an insurance agent at Oran since 1969.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Lynn Bollinger; brothers, Everett and Fred Ransdell; sisters, Mrs. Lucille Springs and Mrs. Alma Baker; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Lee Bollinger and Daniel "Chip" Bollinger II.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at the Amick Burnett Funeral Chapel here. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
