Leo Milton Greear was the fourth son of Alonzo (Lon) and Signa Greear. Leo grew up in the Edwardsville/Hamel/Alhambra area. He was confirmed at Salem Church in Alhambra with the Class of 1940.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 1942 when he was 17 years and 1 month old. He served 4 years, including service at Midway during World War II. He was discharged from the Marines in June 1946 and went to work for the University of Illinois in the Dairy Industry.

In November 1949 he enlisted in the Air Force and served until his retirement in November 1966. His many assignments took him to Japan, Okinawa and several state-side bases. He was assigned to the Air Force Armament Command at Eglin Air Force Base and was selected as a member of a B-52 Strategic Systems Test Team.

He married Evelyn Coffman and they were the parents of three children: Linda (Roger) Wyatt, Diane (Jim) George, and Gary, all of St. Louis, MO. Leo later married Florence (Ogle) Benson.

After retirement from military service he and Florence settled in Titusville, Florida and he worked at the Space Center. Following that, they operated a small flower nursery. Leo was an avid gardener and enjoyed woodworking.
