FORMER RESIDENT DIES FROM INJURIES - Emmitt Greear, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Greear, died Tuesday afternoon at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield from injuries sustained when struck by an automobile while walking home from school at Alhambra Monday evening.

He was born in Andover, South Dakota on May 26, 1922 and had attained the age of 16 years, 4 months and 15 days. Shortly after his birth, he moved to this city with his parents, residing here for many years. For the past year, the family has lived on a farm at the junction of Route 43 and 140, three miles east of Hamel.

Emmitt is survived by his parents and five brothers, Melvin, Donald, Kenneth, Leo and Carl Greear. Other relatives include Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Dippel of Wood River. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the family residence at Worden. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Edwardsville. The body will be at the Straube Funeral Home until about 5 p.m. Wednesday. (Obituary in the Edwardsville Intelligencer on 12 October 1938)
