Franklin News-Herald, October 20, 1958:
Mrs. Elma Davison Bumpus, 92, of Bradleytown, died at her home at 6:30 a.m. Sunday following a short illness.

Plum Township's oldest resident, she was born April 23, 1866, the daughter of James and Lucinda Matthews Davison. On April 19, 1888, she was married to Frederick R. Bumpus, who preceded her in death on March 26, 1926.

Mrs. Bumpus was a member of the Sunville Presbyterian Church and also served as an elder. She taught school for several years prior to her marriage.

She is survived by the following children: Leo S. Bumpus, Leonard D. Bumpus, and Mrs. Nellie Shadle, of Bradleytown; James Maxwell Bumpus, of Johnsonburg, Theodore Bumpus, of Pitcairn and Mrs. Ferne Welsh, of Chapmanville, 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Williams Funeral Home in Chapmanville where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday with Rev. J.L. Murray, pastor of the Bradleytown Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plum Cemetery.
