Leo S Bumpus, 83, of Cooperstown RD 1 (Bradleytown), well-known member of that area’s political and Grange circles, died at 11:50 Tuesday in the Franklin Hospital. He was born May 10, 1889, a son of Frederick and Elma Davison Bumpus. In 1916 he was married to the former Nora Brown who died in 1935. He was then married in 1939 to the former Marie Riddle. She died Feb 14, 1972. Mr Bumpus was active in Grange circles for much of his life. He was the first candidate initiated after the Sugarcreek Grange moved to Bradleytown in 1922. In his 50 years with the Grange he served as chaplain, overseer and secretary, and was master for three years. Last December Mr Bumpus was awarded a Golden Sheaf Certificate from the National Grange of the Patrons of Husbandry in recognition of his 50 years with the Grange.
