LUKE M. GRIGSBY
Saluda, Jan. 22—(Special) — Luke M. Grigsby, 75, a pioneer and highly esteemed citizen of Saluda county, died at his home just outside the town limits at an early hour this morning. He had been in declining health for several months.
Mr. Grigsby was a farmer and business man before his health became impaired. He was head of the L. L. Grigsby company, cotton and fertilizer dealers, until his health failed him, selling his interest to the present firm of Crouch and O'Brien. He was one of the organizers of the present Saluda County bank in November, 1931, and has been a director of this institution since its organization. He has been a loyal member; of St. Paul's • Methodist church for years, and, for the past quarter century a steward of that church. He was active and gave liberally in the erection of the present handsome St. Paul church.
Mr. Grigsby was twice married, his first wife hav ing been the former Julia Long of Saluda. He is survived by his widow, the former Leona Wright of Johnston; five children, all by his former marriage: Mrs. Jeff D. Griffith, Mrs. George W. Coleman, Mrs. Phil B. Waters and Mrs. W. W.'Cone, and Robert L.. Grigsby of Saluda; 14 grandchildren; one brother and six sisters, Jacob L. Grigsby, Mrs. W. S. Forrest, Mrs. T. B. Mätthews, Mrs. A. 'H.' Kreps, Mrs. Emmie Padgett and Mrs. Sallie Brown, all of Saluda and Saluda county, Mrs. Bell Adams of Leesville.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at St. Paul's Methodist church, conducted by. the pastor, the Rev. George R. Cannon. Interment will follow in Travis Park cemetery, Saluda.
