Funeral services were Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Lela Carter Foose, who died at her home in Gibsland, September 22 [1944], following a stroke of paralysis suffered on Monday the 18th. Interment followed in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Surviving relatives include four sons, C.E. and W. P. Carter of Houston TX, C.M. Carter, Gibsland, L.H. Carter, Monroe; three daughters, Mrs. Edna Plaster and Mrs. C.D. Merritt of Gibsland, and Mrs. Lula Caldwell, Staton TX. Also eighteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and a twin sister, Mrs. Lula Monroe Carroll of Beaumont TX. Mrs. Foose had been a resident of Bienville Parish all of her life. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Prothro, were among the first settlers of Mt. Lebanon. She finished school at the old Mt. Lebanon Female College, which was later moved to Pineville. She was a regular attendant and active member of the Gibsland Baptist Church. Minden Funeral Home.
