William P. Carter, age 82, died in the Minden Medical Center Tuesday, Jan. 24, 1978. Services were held in the First Baptist church of Gibsland with the Rev. M.F. Copeland and Dr. Donald Doughty officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery under the direction of Conger's Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were David Riddle, Bobby Riddle, Bobby Kellogg, James Lawler, Manco Snapp, and Douglas Stewart.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. James Lawler of Monroe, Mrs. David Riddle of Monroe, and Mrs. James Taylor of Raytown, MO; one brother, Mr. Carroll M. Carter of Gibsland; three sisters, Mrs. Lula Caldwell of Slayton, TX, Mrs. Harry Plaster of Gibsland, and Mrs. Carroll Merritt of Gibsland; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Carter was a retired retail grocer in Gibsland.
