Harold L. "Wezer" Endres, age 81, died on Friday, 7 June 2002, at his home. He was born on 10 October 1920, in Madison and was the son of William and Dorothy (Post) Endres. He married Catherine Josephine "Kate" Semor on 19 October 1947 at St James Roman Catholic Church in Madison, Wisconsin. He worked for 44 years at Eastex Paper Box Co. Harold served as a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II from 1940 until 1945 and the reserves from 1955 until 1958. For his service in the war he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal. He was also a member of the Sun Prairie American Legion and V.F.W. He enjoyed a visit with both of his sisters not long before his death, Joan coming from Madison, and Kay traveling all the way from Charleston, South Carolina.

Harold is survived by his four daughters, Deborah Burress, Denise (Joe) Weber, Patricia (Bruce) Jochmann and Diane (Mike) Brey; seven grandchildren; a brother, Howard (Mary) Endres; and two sisters, Joan "Anna" Howe and Kathleen "Kay" Kraft. Also special family friends, Clarence and Jenny Strobusch; their son, Gene, and Harold's favorite sidekick, Clancey. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine "Kate" (née Semor); his parents, William "Bill" and Dorothea "Dorrie;" brothers William and Gregory; and a grandson, Andrew Weber.

Harold served in the U. S. Army in World War Two, where he was been a member of the 32nd Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop on Luzon, the same group his older brother Gregory entered with 17 Oct 1940.
He was a veteran of four operations from Australia through New Guinea to the Philippines, was at Saidor and Aitape in New Guinea, Leyte and Luzon in the Philippines. He was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, the Bronze Star Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with four battle stars.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, 12 June 2002, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie with Father Bart Timmerman presiding. Burial will be at Sun Prairie Memory Garden Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Sun Prairie American Legion and V.F.W. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to HospiceCare, Hospice Dorie Bear Fund, Sacred Hearts Endowment Fund or A.A.

While Harold had a late life marriage to his second wife, Joyce, his entire biological family were estranged from this second marriage, which brought much conflict into family life.
