My Grandma was as nice and sweet an old woman as you could ever want to meet. I never heard a single bad or angry word ever come out of her mouth. She raised six children through the Great Depression, and was known for her response to their wishes for things that just weren't ever going to make it into the budget: "wish in one hand, and shit in the other, and see which one you get more of." And, no, I am NOT claiming she's the one who coined the phrase. She went by "Dorothy" for government records, possibly to appear less "German" at a time when two world wars set the USA against Germany, but she was named for a grandmother who spelled the name the German way.

Her children, all born in Madison, with nicknames in "quotes"
William George, "Willy," 1916-1977
Gregory {Adolph} Roland, "Googie," 1918-1986
Harold Laurence, "Wezer," 1920-2002
Kathleen Elizabeth, "Kay," 1922-2015
Howard Anthony, "Coot," 1925-2014
Joan Catherine, "Anna," 1932-2011

"Wezer" rhymes with "geezer" and "Anna" rhymes with "Donna"
{no offense, Uncle Weee}

Willy was cremated by his family in the State of Oregon, and is saved in an urn at a veterans cemetery.
Greg is buried beside his parents, baptized with Adolph for a middle name, due to WWI and WWII he changed it to Roland.
Harold is buried in Sun Prairie Memory Garden in the city of Sun Prairie, Dane County, Wisconsin.
Kay is buried in a cemetery outside Charleston, South Carolina.
Howard is buried in Highland Memory Garden in the Town of Cottage Grove, Dane County, Wisconsin.
Joan is entombed in Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona, Dane County, Wisconsin.
