Joan Endres Howe passed away peacefully in at UW Hospital's Palliative Care Unit after a brief illness, Friday, 25 March 2011, with family present. She was born 4 July 1932 in Madison, to William and Dorothea (Post) Endres. She married Howard R. Howe 17 Sep 1955. Together with her husband and children they operated Howe Brothers Plumbing on Williamson Street in Madison. After retiring she was employed as an usher at U.W. Sporting events for many years. She was a patient and gentle soul, much loved by friends and family, remembered for her warmth and her creativity. She was talented at sewing, crochet and more. Mom was a loving and generous person, and often deserved much better than she got.
She is survived by sons, Michael, Kelley, Barry, and Regan; daughters, Cindy (John) Beyler and Vikki (Mike) Zimmerman; grandson, Christopher Coyier; and granddaughters, Courtney and Rachel. Also a sister, Kathleen "Kay" Kraft, of North Charleston, SC; and brother Howard "Coot" Endres, of Madison, WI; and 11 nieces and 5 nephews. One nephew, Fred Endres, of Stoughton, WI, died just two days before her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, her parents, and her brothers, William "Willy," Gregory "Googie," and Harold "Wezer."
