________________
Dr. William Alfred Brantley was the son of Dr. Levi Gaines Brantley and Martha W. Sturdivant/Brantley. He was born in Walton County, Georgia - where a long line of Brantley's lived.

He married Virginia Susan "Susie" Sherrill of Spalding County, Georgia, about 1875. She was the daughter of Judge Joseph D. Sherrill and Sarah Ann Costler/Sherrill. They eventually divorced and he remarried to a woman almost 40 years his junior. She is buried in a different cemetery and died a few years before Dr. Brantley. He is buried beside his first wife.

They lived most all their life in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a doctor and father of eight children. Many of his uncles. his father and other relatives were also doctors. I have never seen so many doctors in one family. Beside being a medical doctor, he also practiced old time medical receipes.

William Alfred Brantley was my Great Grandfather. He died before I was born, so I never knew him or his wife. His son, Lawrence Sherrill Brantley, was my Grandfather.

All we have is a couple of pictures of him and his family. If you are kin to this family, please contact me.
